FOR REAL, IT’S FOOD

The ‘Nutrition Facts’ on the back of the label says it all. Perform is a real food product that has been approved by the FDA, which means there’s no hidden ingredients. Perform has also been rigorously tested by Informed-Sport, the industry standard in sports nutrition quality assurance, to ensure that it is free of any harmful ingredients and banned substances.

The best way to tell the difference between dietary supplements and conventional foods is by looking at the nutrition information on the label of the product. Conventional foods must have a “Nutrition Facts” panel on their labels, but dietary supplements must have a “Supplement Facts” panel.

Products with a ‘Nutrition Facts’ label are sold as a conventional food. Conventional foods are real foods, not dietary supplements. That means all ingredients must be formally approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). An ingredient that is generally recognized as safe by the FDA has been scientifically proven to be safe for its intended use – so you know for sure that you’re not putting any harmful substances into your body.

BUYER BEWARE

Products with a “supplement facts” label are marketed and sold as a dietary supplement. The label is important because the ingredients are not necessarily reviewed for safety by the FDA, so you’re taking a risk every time you use a dietary supplement. Supplement labels will also include a disclaimer that reads: “These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.” In other words, this supplement is unregulated, so there’s no telling if it’s safe – or if it will even do what you want it to.

With the growing trend of supplements, consumers must be aware of the potential risks. The FDA is unable to test and identify dietary supplements that have potentially harmful hidden ingredients, so consumers, especially athletes, should use caution before purchasing any dietary supplement.

Profile values its relationships with members and wants to ensure that, with all Profile foods, Perform is nutritious, delicious and safe! You can rest assured that when you take Perform, you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
